Steam generation through the combustion of fuels is the first step in generating the electrical power that moves industry. The steam is produced in water tubes that line a boilers’ walls. These tubes carry water from the boilers’ water drum. The level of the water in the drum is vitally important and it is constantly monitored. Not only because low water levels would result in poor steam production but also the tubes themselves would begin to overheat and possibly melt down.

In order to prevent this occurrence, the water in the drum is usually monitored with more then one system. One of those system is to remotely monitor the level indicator and have that video feed present in the control room.
